Alex Oates writes profoundly human stories rooted in first hand understanding of societies underdogs.

He’s the recipient of the Peter Shaffer Commission, writer on attachment at The National Theatre London, RSC 37 plays award, Best Screenplay at Aesthetica Festival, Quay Street Productions Mentorship, and been twice nominated for most promising playwright at the Offies.

He lives in Cambois, South East Northumberland in a deprived de-industrialised community where he founded The Tute - a charity aiming to raise aspirations with culture.
